With Father's Day just around the corner, we thought it would be fitting to support a group of foster dads through Samson’s Barbershop in Kalamazoo this month!

Samson's Barbershop was started in August 2020 by Adam Muncy and Jake Hamlet. Foster care and adoption are close to their hearts as they are both foster dad's and Jake has adopted 5 children. They use their babershop as a hub for serving and supporting local foster care efforts by providing free haircuts to foster youth, donating a portion of the proceeds from some of their haircare products back to kids in care, and hosting a foster dad happy hour at the barber shop twice a month.

After spending some time in the foster community, they realized that most of the conversations were women-led and focused. As foster dads, they did not wish to be a part of a book study or join a group where the husbands were mostly silent. Through their time at the babershop, they noticed that men are preconditioned to talk in a barber shop, and they just so happened to have the keys to one so they started hosting the Foster Dad Happy Hour twice a month where a group of 8-10 local foster dads gather for community!

With the funds raised this month, we wanted to love on this group of foster dads for Father's Day and will be sending them off to spend an afternoon golfing at a local golf course, and supporting some of their other upcoming gatherings.
