Back to School Day : August 2022

Children in foster care often have little voice or choice in what inevitably happens to them. Giving children in care a choice in something, literally anything, can make a huge impact on how they view themselves and their world. Lots of cute little kid's clothing items are often donated, but rarely any clothing items for teens. We want the teens in the foster/adopt/kinship community to know they are seen, valued and loved by providing them with a day to shop for their own clothes (in their own unique styles) through the “Back to School Day” event.

The Back to School Day event, which took place at the end of August, sponsored 18 teens on an unforgetable day! The event included a day of shopping for clothes, shoes & school supplies, and going out to lunch! After all of the shopping was done, the teens enjoyed heading to Craig’s Cruisers with the other teen shoppers for a night of fun activities!

We ended the month of August with 680 donors which translates into $680 that we were able to put towards sponsoring several teens for the Back to School event this month. It was heart-warming hearing the coordinator of the event share what a special day it was for all of the teens who were able to participate.
