Last month we shared several ways you could be involved with foster care without actually being a foster family, and one of the ways we mentioned was coming alongside a foster family and supporting them. For the month of June, we put this idea into practice by supporting a local foster family, The Schrotenboers, by bringing them meals, fresh fruit & veggies, snacks and gift cards every week this month.

Their family lives in Zeeland where Brian works at Specialized Plumbing and Michelle works for Century Driving and is also home full-time with the kids. Their daughter, Kyla, just graduated from Holland Christian this year, their other daughter Brinae is finishing up her freshman year at Holland Christian, and their son Hudson is finishing up sixth grade at Zeeland Christian. They have been a foster family for almost 6 years, and in that time they have had a total of 11 foster kids in their home ranging in age from 0-16. The Schrotenboer's currently have 4 bonus kids staying with them through foster care; A is 7 years old, E is 5 years old, E is 4 years old and Z is 1 years old.

We ended the month of June with 615 donors which translates into $615 that we were able to put towards food for the Schrotenboers this month! We loved providing this sweet family with homemade meals, fresh produce, snacks and treats as well as gift cards to local restaurants and grocery stores!
